1. I have Bibliomania, the crazy overwhelming love of books. I collect books and more books....won't buy a kindle; don't even go to the library much because I'll end up wanting to own the books I borrow there. I love the way a book feels in my hand, the way it smells. I love turning the pages, and seeing them stacked on my book shelves (on which I am quickly running out of room). My dream house would have a library with floor to ceiling stacks and a ladder that scoots laterally from shelf to shelf. sigh.
2. You know you are a Bibliophile if the burning of the Library of Congress during the War of 1812 still upsets you. You know you have Bibliomania if the destruction and loss of Alexander's ancient rare document library at Alexandria gets you choked up! [Both of these, are me! :-) ]....here's when Wikipedia says that loss occurred: "partial or complete destruction of the Library of Alexandria include a fire set by Julius Caesar in 48 BC, an attack by Aurelian in the AD 270s, and the decree of Coptic Pope Theophilus in AD 391." We are talking ancient history!
3. I had the amazing privilege to visit Trinity College Library when Mom & I had our ten day Ireland tour. It was such a thrill! It was one of the most beautiful libraries I have ever seen!

4. I also love art, and in a combination of the two (books and art) book illustrations, particularly those charming childhood images, are a favorite of mine....enter Pinterest where I have 210 boards on a variety of subjects. But, what I would like to share is my fascination with charming art illustrations. I save as many as I can find on the three boards there, but also use them for embroidery inspiration. I am now sharing a baby quilt I just finished on my piece-fulness quilting blog. Go by and take a look! Here's the LINK. I didn't copy any of the images I used, but found inspiration in actual artwork, and the panels are not just embroidered but colored with fabric painting techniques. Below is one of the illustrations that inspired me with the quilt. It was a lot of fun, and I plan to do much more! As a quilter, I can say I also seem to have Fabricomania! :-)
5. Finally, we watched a really good movie the other night, called The Homesman. It is a sad tale of life in the Nebraska Territories. It stars Tommy Lee Jones, and Hillary Swank (both marvelous!) and John Lithgow and smaller cameo roles by James Spader and Merle Streep. If you need a happy ending, this isn't for you. But, it tells a very human story, and was really, really good.
