Joining Tanya's Willy Nilly Friday Five, one of my all-time favorite memes....
1. A week ago we had our first serious monsoon storm. It was a week early (today is the first official day of the monsoon season, and the sky is a lovely blue!) It didn't last long, but the wind was 40 miles an hour and we had torrential rain. The next day, branches were broken off palo verde trees, and this poor agave, after sending it's shoot up and starting to bloom, was broken.
2. When we were pretty young married, we went to an air show in Alabama once with my cousin Rhonda and her children. It became a huge joke in our family after that day because as he was being carried around, her little son (maybe two years old) kept saying in this gravelly monotone voice "I'm hot," over and over. I don't think he looked at a single plane. The little guy was just HOT! :-) So ever since then we get hot we imitate that gravelly monotone and say "I'm hot."
Did I mention that I'm hot? I mean, you have to imagine the sound of my voice as I am saying it. Let me say it again....I'm hot. It has already been 109, and on Sunday they are predicting 114. I leave the house only if we are desperately in need of something. I mean, we can go one more day without bread and milk, right? Those of you who know of Chris Rhorer, of Las Aventuras (amazing bird blog!) Well, he lives here in Tucson too. He's been in Michigan visiting family. I accused him of heading up there and leaving the rest of us here to die!
Well, there are some really wonderful things about Tucson, but none of them are attached to summer. I can't even begin to tell you all how I CAN'T WAIT to get to Oregon!!!! :-) Mostly because I miss my sweet daughter, son-in-law and grandson. But, did I mention....I'm hot.

4. We are in the preliminary stages of buying a house...thus my nervous breakdown! :-) This is one of the hardest things I think one can do, long distance. The kids went to look at one we were real interested in, for us, and gave their approval (and answered some of our questions) but before we could do anything, the house was gone. Apparently the market in the Bend area is 500% greater in demand for houses than most other places in the U.S. because it is growing so fast. It is considered one of the best places to live on some ratings, and that is no longer a secret. That will be great for business for the new restaurant, but not so good for the lazy small-town feel it has now....that is going to disappear! We aren't looking in Bend, though....we were looking in Redmond, but the hysteria has apparently already spread to Redmond, so now we are going even farther afield. I know the perfect house is out there for us, and I know God will make the right one happen. But in the meantime, this is a little nerve-wracking! :-) The last time we bought a house was in 1979. This is hard on us older folks, who aren't use to the process!
5. Once again I don't seem to have a number 5. Well, that's ok. At least I made it this week with a post! :-)

Oh Marie, I trust God will provide a home for you in Oregon. I hope it happens sooner than later. I'm hot just reading about your hot days!
It is a hard time for you. Hot and trying to buy a house. I can understand your nervous state. Hope all goes well for you.
I feel for you with that heat. We had about 3 days of it back in late May and since then it's been almost cold here. Our high's have only been in the low 60's but it's going to be back up in the 90's next week.
Sorry about the monsoon storms too. Doesn't sound fun.
Nor does moving although I think you will love Oregon.
So sorry - for you and for the agave. I had thought, you have already a new home - such uncertainty is horrible!
So pretty colorful things - I would buy there an owl and, maybe, a flowerpot, when I had so much money.

Thinking of you Marie during this transitional time. I remember when we moved from the south to the north of England a few years ago we were buying long distance. Eventually after several negotiations falling through we got settled and we knew God had been in the provision of it. Praying for the well being of you and yours.
My son (Phoenix) recently commented 'Mom, how did we grow up without AC? (western PA :/ ). I said 'Now you understand, siesta'.

Marie, house buying is definitely not a fun job. We built our current home, so that was a bit easier, but still had to sell the one before. We were fortunate to sell it in a week's time. Keep cool, my friend!

1) That was quite a storm. I hope the agave will recover.
2) Sweet story about your cousin’s little boy. I think ours was “I’m thirsty!” over and over :) Goodness, I’d heard it was in the hundreds out there but 114? No wonder Chris got out of town, lol! I can understand you missing your family and I hope the time flies til the next time you see them again.
3) I love going to Trader Joe's. I don’t go as often as to my local grocery, but enjoy it very much. The Happy Saguaro looks like the neatest place.
4) Good luck with buying a house, can well understand it being so nerve-wracking. It can also be very frustrating, especially long distance. Glad that your family is there to help out.

Hope your house hunting goes a little easier. Moving is hard! I sure understand about being HOT. This time of year I hibernate. Get my walk in early in the morning and then run my errands and hope to home by 10 am. I lived in NM for years and understand the cute little shops. They are fun. Hope your week is wonderful. Stay cool.

Well, #5 you could say something like "I'm hot". And for that I can empathize. I know, I know.
Too bad about the agave breaking in the storm. And Trader Joes...the one on Oracle?
Moving, it's not EASY. Bud and I bought the house we're living in by 'shopping' online first then contacting a realtor. She did a run through video for us and emailed it to us. We liked what we saw and I flew in from Tucson to do a visual...then, we did the paper work via online and had a notary in Tucson do the legal stuff. It's not easy...but when you're 1000s of miles away, what can you do?
I have been seeing on the news about the horrible heat out in Ariz. and feel for you. Being hot just drains you down to nothing. And, I know you want to be busy packing and all that. Hopefully a house will come along that is perfect for you. Oh, and I want a visit at that little shop.... if I had a yard, I'd buy the road runner!!
Hi Marie, I hope are inside staying cool. We've got some high temps here in southern California,too, but it's warmer where you are. I do hope you can find the right home you're looking for. Well under your circumstances 4 out of 5 is brilliant!!! It is always a horrible process buying a house, add in a monsoon and the heat and no wonder you feel like going out to Trader Joes for some retail therapy! I'm sure as you say the perfect house is out there for you.

oh marie, i am sorry about the house but you are right, the right one will come along! hang in there!! don't you just hate when a great little area starts to grow up? i feel like everytime we have moved to a small-ish town, is right when it is growing...grrrr!! i am laughing at the "i'm hot" and understand what you are saying...we have a few things like that, for instance, we can't say "theater" without throwing a hoity-toity accent on it for some reason, not sure where that started but it has stuck lol...love that little shop! thanks for linking marie...i am also taking a short break!
I can surely agree with you- it is HOT. I don't like hot, and I don't like storms and I suspect my list of "I don't likes" are getting longer and longer the older I get. I can't believe I used to be dumb enough to lay out in the yard and bake in this heat.
I hope you find a wonderful house..I would love to move also, so I will be cheering you on from the comment section!

I really think the little shop would be fun to see. We are in a stage of needing to move away to somewhere else. I refuse to stay put but we really have to decide to where we would like to live. I hope the house thing does work better for you.
The heat sounds terrible! I hope you can move to a cooler climate soon - and that of course means that you find a suitable house! Poor agave plant! Fancy putting out all that effort and then having a storm come through and ruin it all. All great - and interesting - photos!
